If intending to marry on St. John request a marriage license application from the Administrator, Territorial Court of the Virgin Islands, PO Box 70, St. Thomas 00801 (340) 774-6680.

If either party has been divorced, a certified copy of the divorce decree or a notarized affidavit stating when the divorce was granted must accompany the application.

An 8 day waiting period is required after the completed and notarized application has been received by the court, but if you have a wedding consultant acting for you this can eliminate the need for an on-island waiting period.

If you want to be married by the Court, an appointment must be made for a Judge to perform the ceremony. Court marriages are performed by appointment on weekdays on St. Thomas.

There is a $50 application fee, the license costs $50 and there is a $200 fee for being married by a Judge. For a church wedding, it is advisable to give the minister as much advance notice as possible.
